To all those who signed up on the paper spotters rota last night at the lake I have now entered you on the online rota so no need to do that. I have made a note next to your name if you haven't signed up to at least one spotting session so please come on Saturday with a date that you are able to spot or alternatively sign up beforehand at www.doodle.com/adgtqmdm52575yk5. If you owe money I will be collecting that. As I am not at work this week I have had no-one to boss around so I am putting all my energies into relcalcitrant Leicester tri members- Beware!! Also, I am scared of Chris and so am trying to follow the many and detailed instructions she left! Many thanks to those well-behaved members who have paid and signed up. Well done you!

Finally if you would like to do the summer league race Hungarton 7 on Weds Aug 7th at 7.30p.m. please let me or Andy know. Will have list at lake on Saturday.

Cheers, Jeanette

Well done to all four spotters, who turned up promptly this evening, stayed well over the allocated 2 hours and discharged their duties most diligently Razz

However, not so well done to the competitive mentality of the hoards of mobbers at the ramp to lake entry/exit pouncing on bands as they came out of the water!

At least 2 members from Masters (who only pay LTC subs to swim openwater) went home without getting a swim, even though they'd been waiting far longer than most of the "Mobbers", who snatched bands from the wrists/ankles of swimmers as they exited the lake. This does not work!!! Mainly becos most of the time they hadn't got a clue whose band they'd swiped Mad
So, on the rare occasion we have more than 50 swimmers (rare indeed=we were at an all time record this eve of 70
swimmers!)

so there will be a sheet of paper next to the register for bandless folk to sign. This will be the fairest method=1st come, 1st to get a band...so please...no more nabbing bands as they exit the lake!

Hello,

This is my first post.

I'm thinking about joining, initially to get some experience of open water swimming that's not in the sea..and some cycling experience, and I suppose some running too....would you say Saturday morning's swim session is likely to be less, errr, competitive? or competitive in the right way?

I'm also interested in if you know a good sprint distance cycle route starting from watermead? I live locally and have been training on a mountain bike, now I've moved to a roadbike I'm struggling with speedbumps and potholes!

Ideally I want to do the sprint distances back to back regularly, but not using a pool.

cheers

Chris

Hi,
None of our lake swim are competitive...all purely training and very relaxed.
Do come along on Saturday, 7.30 - 9.30, with a completed open water disclaimer (link to print it off under "Swimming" section on website) & we'll be happy to "introduce you to the delights of open water" Smile

You'll find me easily enough as I'm the one with the whippets (& one has a broken leg, so quite noticeable!)

Thanks for the reply Chris, hoping to come along on Saturday morning and sign up Smile and swim of course!

I don't have a swim cap, do i need to get one before I turn up, or is there a club one, or can I skip that bit entirely?

cheers

Chris

IF YOU HAVE NOT SPOTTED YET THIS SEASON

Many swimmers have already taken 1 or 2 turns at spotting, some are signed up to spot next month BUT there are still some regular lake swimmers NOT yet on the rota at all. Please sign up if you have not already done so. There are at least 8 full weeks left when we need spotters
